Come Staycation with Us: Discover French River

What Is A Staycation?

The term, Staycation, was originally coined in a market crisis in 2008 in our neighbor across the border. However, since Covid-19 has dictated the need for tourism to be faced to restrict travel plans for holidays of travel abroad or within our Canadian boundaries, Ontarian are now immersing themselves in immediate surroundings for a staycation near home, Northeastern Ontario.

What Might Your Adventure Discover?

Your adventure at Bear’s Den Lodge will make you more aware of your environment. Find peace and quiet in the wilderness expanse of the French River Provincial Park. The lower French River Delta has many offerings to explore with abundant wildlife such as: birds, reptiles and fish that inhabit the shorelines, skies, forests, and water of our area.

What Benefits are Offered in a Local Staycation?

Staycations are economical and easy on your wallet! Our Ontario government is also ruling out a new rebate program to entice you to travel locally. In 2022, Ontario resident rebates for travelers in Ontario will be offered up to a 20% rebate offering to apply for at tax time.

Would you like to slow your pace and enjoy quality time with family, loved ones and friends? A slower pace promotes health, wellness, a chance to reconnect with yourself and nature. Our facilities allow you to enjoy the great outdoors with modern comfort in the French River Provincial Park.

Would you liked to save on your travel time? Instead of being in the drivers seat you will have extra time in the boat seat, sitting on the decks or wetting your line fishing close to home.

Another benefit is being in a distraction free zone. Disconnect from other distractions such as phones, emails, work, and other negative interactions to take that deep breathe of fresh air. Take time to clear your head and allow the creativity to sneak in.

Kick back and try new sports or rejuvenate that sport you have not enjoyed. Try paddling, experience fishing, swimming, or hiking wilderness trails. What about a culinary experience?

Reconnect with that artist within you! Opportunities are there on the French River for you to paint or take that perfect shot during a guided photo tour. Amazing scenery, landscapes, natural skyline and photography await in the Great Canadian Outdoors. Capture that morning sunrise, a brilliant sunset or an amazing night sky with us in Killarney.

Life is about learning the history, connecting with the French River culture, or dine with us to enjoy the local cuisine.

Staycations are environmentally friendly. You reduced needs to travel far, saving on fuel and flights. You promote a safe clean environment to enjoy and leave the same behind for others to enjoy for years to come.

Therefore, a staycation in Ontario has much to offer from comfort, to being economical, environmentally sustainable, healthy and offers physical and mental wellness, sports, history, culture, and an escape from Covid-19 in open spaces of our natural environment. Come staycation with us and discover what the French River has to offer!
