Bear’s Den Lodge, French River, Canada is listed as the “Premier Fishing Lodge” in the sports section of the Chenango County Hometown Daily, August 3, 1995 by Bob McNitt, Outdoor Writer lists and states “Bear’s Den Lodge has one of the best reputations on the river”. Art Barefoot is known “as one of the top muskie specialists on the river,” reported by Bob McNitt. In fact, Art’s name is listed in the Freshwater Fishing Record Books near the top of the muskellunge category as the 14 Pound Line Class World Record Muskie Holder – 59 pounds, 11 ounces, which is on display in the main lodge. Art states, “Muskie will not only eat, but target, prey 45 percent the size of the predator.”
